Demoralizing interview

Monday, May 30, 2011

Went for an interview today, the company called last Friday almost immediately after I sent my resume. Reached there the interviewer is not in, only leaving the engineer OTing. A guy called her and I overheard the conversation saying that she went home. HUH?

Then the guy who replacing the interviewer told me she went for an important meeting hahaha. Same old style ask me self introduction. What I know about their company, ok I acknowledge I really did little homework , only know they do sharepoint and ASP.net.

Then, it started.

Interviewer: Only tertiary standard of ASP.net, no knowledge of sharepoint or enterprise maintenance system. What else can you contribute to the company?

Me thinking: "What can you contribute?" always this question.

Me: Although tertiary knowledge but is not hard to pick up language once you have the fundamental, went through the whole software development cycle and got some experiences being a team lead.

Interviewer: Ya agree, not hard to catch but why expected salary so high? Fresh graduate also get 2k plus only! And you got no knowledge of sharepoint how to team lead? You know there ASP.net courses to take to upgrade?

Me thinking: What the heck! I am not fresh grad lei and that's only my current salary lo! Know the market bo? Fresh graduates average $3.4k! Why so negative about everything I say, every word also must fight back! I didn't say I want lead them now I just want to be a web developer and currently work on C++, means you going to die working using C++. Taking course in the end still tertiary knowledge ah? Some time self learn is much better cause people can also don't pay attention in course. And all this already stated on the resume, if not happy why so kan chiong called me for interview?

Me: The expected salary is my current salary. I don't mean I going to lead I just want to be a web developer. Maybe not just web developer but to move on to more stuff such as pre-sales or post-sales which I don't get to do in MNC or big companies.

Interviewer: Bah bah.... Any more questions?

Me: Nope

Lesson learnt should be able to do better next interview.

Bad day even my shoes spoilt, one bad thing about Mondo shoes, very short-lived. This only the first day I'm wearing these pair of shoes. Gonna bring back to exchange.

Great Singapore Sales 2011

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Eat with your family day, company release at 5pm and also first day of GSS. Didn't eat with them, went shopping at VivoCity instead. Wanted to buy River Island clutch bag, found out that the shop is replaced by Uniqlo.

Went to Shabuya to have our dinner, it was really nice but too expensive. Spent too much time eating yet no time left to shop.

Then, I found out that using iPhone is really good, cause I can download app such as DBS Shopper to get discount coupons to buy shoes at Mitju. Out of my luck again, my size always out of stock. Then, I went to Charles and Keith and saw a slipper which is similar to the one I like from Joyce's shop. It is almost the same price but it is not as nice. I wonder I should buy from online or not cause the size might not fit.

Finally, I bought another white pair of slipper from Charles & Keith instead. Wrote this post using iphone app BloggerPlus, finally can blog on the move. Enjoy using iPhone so much, recently inherit this phone from papa cause is being kept in 冷宫, how can papa buy this phone and don't use it hai! Will take a photo of my new slipper and post soon :)

Went Ion to get the river island bag but white sold out only left black so sad, Mama say so expensive yet so normal T-T

Finally, Mitju sales girl say my two pair of shoes The Central got stock so I went to there to buy my two shoes. Recently, the sales girl always so easily frustrated. They told me got stock then I travel all the way down to buy, obviously one of the shoes is dirty, still say is ok so pechek. In the end, I still bought the one of the pair. Then we went to VivoCity, bought another two shoes from Mondo. Ops in total I bought five shoes in two consecutive days, can wear different shoes from Monday to Friday!

Went to eat 家香面, the food really taste not as good as before.

Bought two polo tee from Uniqlo.

After eating 满记, tired and took cab home.

Something hidden in my store room

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Ops, something travel through the time machine and dropped in my store room. Haha just joking, that day Papa went to dug out all the rubbish kept in the store room. And, found Momo's keychain collections, so many of them that she having difficult sorting them, kept grumbling "Ah... I donno how to sort la...!" Sometimes, I wonder what the point of collecting things, can they really be sold of a fortune :P. It was really quite fun looking through the keychains collection, found lots of long forgotten stuff. "Are we that rich to buy so much useless keychain when we went to Australia?" pondered.

Chongfu Keychain

15 years from the day I graduated from Chongfu primary, really left nothing from then except this 80th Anniversary keychain. Just wondering how many of this keychains still left in hands of others?

Here the main course The Lawrys'’s cut Prime rib, it sauce really tastes good, the pudding and mashed potato also marvelous but I still prefer Angus’s steak cause is more juicy and soft.

I though it would be quite a surprise for him cause I didn’t told him that there’s cake and birthday song for him. But, almost all the tables there are having birthday celebration, that it so expected that its going to come sooner or later hahaha. As for the cake I also prefer Angus tiramisu cake.
